As the Lantern Festival approaches, Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, has organized a multitude of activities to celebrate.
The Lantern Festival, also known as the Yuanxiao Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunar calendar. It marks the end of the Spring Festival, and during this time, people gather to appreciate colorful lanterns, solve lantern riddles, and enjoy sweet glutinous rice balls, also known as "yuanxiao".
This year's Lantern Festival will fall on Feb 24.
