In 2024, Xi'an has achieved steady progress in economic and social development and new results in various undertakings.

The city promoted the acceleration of transformation and development, the optimization and adjustment of economic structure, and the upgrading of development momentum.

The region's annual gross domestic product GDP increased by 4.6 percent, with a net increase of 130.7 billion yuan ($17.92 billion), reaching 1.33 trillion yuan. The general public budget revenue increased by 5.3 percent, reaching 100.24 billion yuan.

Xi'an promoted the transformation of urban development from scale expansion to connotation enhancement, shifted the growth mode from investment-driven to technology-driven, and promoted the management of the city's entire life cycle.

The new national spatial master plan, approved by the State Council, clarifies the city's nature, functional positioning, and development vision.

Xi'an completed 30 practical tasks for the people in 10 areas, including education, transportation, and medical services. Seventy-six building tasks were cleared, 342 relocation projects were started, 153 projects were completed, and 304,300 people have moved back to their original site.

Highlights of Xi'an's work include 406 newly-added industrial enterprises above the designated size, and a per capita disposable income increase for urban and rural residents by 4.9 percent and 6.9 percent, respectively. The research and development investment accounted for 5.56 percent of the city's total economic scale.

The city also made eight specific efforts to improve people's livelihoods, including recovering the economy, improving the ecosystem, stabilizing the security foundation, integrating technology industries, and improving government ability and efficiency.
