Relying on the magnificent historical sites at the Xi'an City Wall, the welcome ceremony performance at the south gate offers a grand welcome to visitors in the style of a great country in the prosperous Tang Dynasty (618-907).

Since its debut in 1996, the performance has received more than 200 dignitaries, including the US President and the British Queen.

Many people choose to start their journey through the ancient city at the Xi'an City Wall.

By the end of August, the total number of visitors to the Xi'an City Wall this year had reached 5.5 million, an increase of 734 percent compared to the same period in 2022 and a 42-percent increase over the 2019 peak.

The total income had reached 255 million yuan ($34.84 million), a 754-percent increase compared to the same period in 2022.
