In recent years, a number of new landmarks have emerged in Xi'an, continually surprising us. Xi'an Tree is located in the Xi'an cultural central business district, an urban commercial landmark which has recently captured much attention.
Xi'an Tree was designed by famous British architect Thomas Heatherwick and his team, who drew inspiration from the 1400-year-old Ginkgo tree in the Zen Temple of Guanyin in Xi'an. It is 57 meters high and consists of 60 giant "leaves".
The design of its roots was inspired by the Qujiang Pool in Xi'an, which serves as the origin of Xi'an Tree. Here, water nourishes and gives life to a vibrant Oriental Garden.
A number of Xi'an elements were incorporated into the design, including a pomegranate tree. The pomegranate flower is the city flower of Xi'an as well as a symbol of the Silk Road and cultural exchanges between the East and West.
The Canopy-Silk Road Oasis, the largest open space in the entire Xi'an Tree, offers a panoramic view of the magnificent scenery of Xi'an Mixc. Move your eyes southward from the Sui-Tang Temple of Heaven and eastward from the Shaanxi Radio & TV Tower — the exact point where these two lines intersect is where the Xi'an Mixc is located.
The top platform was inspired by the image of Huashan Mountain and is named the "Summit of Huashan Mountain". It offers breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery and the chance to explore the roots of the ancient capital's culture beneath.
After the Xi'an Tree was unveiled at the end of 2024, it quickly became a hot topic on the internet, attracting many locals and tourists eager to take photos. The "Inspired Bridge" in Xi'an Mixc is one of the most popular spots at this new landmark. In the evening, the "Silk Road Odyssey" light show will also be staged, making for an unforgettable experience.
The light show was jointly designed with Territory Studio, an internationally renowned visual effects company. It was created with a focus on the cultural elements of the Silk Road, reflecting Xi'an's role as an international metropolis.
Xi'an is fast-becoming an international consumption center city. Its commercial district model, which is becoming increasingly well-developed, is stimulating urban consumption. Meanwhile, the unique touring and shopping experiences it offers promote the integration of the city's business, art, culture, and fashion scenes, injecting new vitality into this ancient capital city.
