The Global Solicitation of Spring Festival Couplets for the Chinese City Wall in 2025 was officially launched on Oct 21 to promote traditional Chinese culture and establish the "Chinese City Wall" international cultural IP, according to the Xi'an City Wall Scenic Area.

Spring Festival couplets, integral to Chinese tradition, embody people's aspirations for a better life, while ancient city walls are an important architectural embodiment of Chinese culture, serving as symbols of urban culture and historical witnesses.

This edition of the event aims to collect couplets globally focusing on city wall culture and folk traditions during the Spring Festival, in collaboration with the United Cities and Local Governments ASPAC Tourism Committee, members of the International Ancient Walls and Castles Alliance, and the Cheng Ho Cultural Museum, Melaka, as well as the ancient city wall institutions of China's Shouxian, Guangzhou, Zhengding, Kaifeng, Jingzhou, Xiangyang, and Xingcheng.

The solicitation will last until 2024.

Individuals and groups worldwide who are passionate about Chinese and couplet culture can stay updated through the public WeChat accounts of the city walls of Xi'an, Shouxian, Guangzhou, Zhengding, Kaifeng, and others, and submit entries to citywall_01@163.com.

The submitted couplets will undergo three rounds of anonymous evaluation by experts from the Yinglian Society of China, culminating in the selection and public display of 53 outstanding couplet works.
