Xi'an delegation seeks cooperation in Australia

A Xi'an economic and trade delegation visited Australia from Sept 22 to 26 to expand economic and trade cooperation.

On Sept 23, the delegation met with the Representative Office of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in Australia to discuss economic and trade cooperation opportunities between Xi'an and Australia in new energy and agricultural products.

The delegation also held the 2024 China (Xi'an)-Australia (Sydney) Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Conference in Sydney on Sept 23.

Ye Wei, counselor-rank consul of the Consulate-General of China in Sydney, expressed continued support for deep cooperation between Xi'an and Australia in areas such as agricultural imports and exports, technology trade, digital trade, and cultural trade.

Officials from Xi'an presented comprehensive overviews of the city's economic and social development, inviting Australian businesses to invest in Xi'an and strengthen economic, trade, and cultural exchanges.

On Sept 25, the delegation visited key companies in Australia, including LONGi's Australia Branch and the Australia China Cultural and Economic Promotion Association, exploring ways to enhance economic cooperation and cultural exchanges between Xi'an and Australia.

In recent years, economic and trade cooperation between Xi'an and Australia has rapidly improved, with the total import and export trade volume reaching approximately 9.37 billion yuan ($1.34 billion) in 2023, a 40.3 percent increase from the previous year. The two sides have strong complementarity in resources and industries, indicating promising prospects for cooperation in trade, investment, research, tourism, and education.
