This victory marks the 50th gold medal for the Chinese sports delegation at the Paralympic Games and the first gold for an athlete from Shaanxi province. Wu Yang, who won the silver medal, is also a talented athlete from the Shaanxi Provincial Disabled Archery Team.
Born in Xi'an in 1989, Wu has a leg disability due to a childhood illness. At the age of 14, a local disability association official introduced her to disabled sports training, which led to her joining the Shaanxi Provincial Disabled Archery Team in September 2012.

Now 34 years old, Wu shouldered the responsibility of competing in both the women's individual recurve and mixed team events at the Paris Paralympic Games. Determined to avoid regrets, she focused on refining her skills and mental resilience while preparing for the games, incorporating meditation and psychological training to enhance her focus and emotional strength.
After securing the gold medal, Wu remains focused on upcoming competitions. When asked about retirement, she happily remarked, "As long as my body holds up, it's normal to continue archery training into my 40s. I will keep going as long as the country needs me! "
