The southwest corner of the Xi'an City Wall was illuminated with a commemorative sign jointly designed by China and Brazil to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

The sign features the number "50" fused with the colors of both countries' flags. It symbolizes mutual respect, equality, and win-win cooperation over the past half-century. The intertwining "5" and "0" form the infinity symbol (∞), representing the enduring friendship, vitality, and promising future between China and Brazil.

On the same evening, several cities in both countries also participated in the event, displaying light shows on their iconic buildings. In China, the cities include Beijing, Tianjin, Chongqing, Nanjing, Xiamen, Ningbo, Zhenjiang, and Tai'an. Brazilian cities that took part were Brasilia, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Londrina, Belo Horizonte, Santos, and Curitiba.

Local government exchange and cooperation are vital for China and Brazil's bilateral relations. China and Brazil have established relationships between 62 pairs of friendly cities and provinces, significantly contributing to mutual understanding, bilateral ties, and friendly exchanges in various fields.

Xi'an and Brasilia became sister cities on Oct 26, 1997. Over the years, the two cities have enjoyed close trade, culture, and tourism exchanges, further enhancing their ties.
