A special event featuring virtual reality (VR) technology was launched on July 24 in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, titled "Watching Notre Dame de Paris in Xi'an, Cheering for the Paris Olympics".

The event invited international friends in Shaanxi to participate in Xi'an's digital cultural tourism activities, experiencing the infinite charm brought by the fusion of technology and culture.

Through immersive VR technology, participants had the opportunity to virtually experience the globally renowned cultural heritage site, Notre Dame de Paris, situated on the banks of the Seine River, and cheer for the upcoming 2024 Olympics.

Alexander, who has lived in Xi'an for 14 years, expressed surprise after experiencing the immersive VR technology, saying, "As a Frenchman, Notre Dame de Paris is not just a landmark to me. It symbolizes the history and culture of our country. However, through VR technology, I reexamined this familiar yet mysterious building from a new perspective. I hope more people can experience this awe-inspiring journey."

Khaqan Alvi from Pakistan, currently studying at Northwestern Polytechnical University, said, "This experience is truly magical. It immersed me in a whole new world! Today, I am here to cheer for the Olympics, feeling the resonance between culture and sports."
