The list of athletes from China set to compete at the Paris Olympics has been unveiled recently, with a total of 10 athletes from Shaanxi province securing spots in 10 different events.
Two of the athletes – Wang Zilu (rhythmic gymnastics) and Liu Yukun (shooting), are from Xi'an and currently undergoing the final stages of preparation before the Olympics.
Wang shines is a rising star in the world of rhythmic gymnastics, showcasing unique artistic qualities and exceptional technical prowess. Wang joined the Shaanxi gymnastics team in 2010 and was selected for the national training team in 2013.
As 2024 unfolds, Wang's performance has consistently improved thanks to the guidance and support of her coaches and logistics team. In March, she clinched China's first-ever gold medal in the individual club exercise event at the 2024 FIG World Cup.
"Representing the country at the Olympics is every athlete's dream," Wang expressed. "I will give it my all on the stage of the Paris Olympics!"
Similarly, Liu is embarking on his first Olympic journey. For the 27-year-old from Xi'an, this opportunity comes with both rewards and challenges.
Liu started his journey in shooting at the age of 14, joined the Shaanxi provincial team in 2014, and officially joined the national team in 2016.
Liu stated, "Competing in an event as big as the Olympics definitely comes with pressure, but I hope to view it as a challenge. I will approach it with the best mindset and attitude."
