Eddie traveled from Turkiye to Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, nearly six years ago to study. Now, on the brink of graduation, he is eager to continue his entrepreneurial journey in the city.

Eddie gives three reasons why he is enamored with Xi'an.

Profound history and culture

At 29 years old, Eddie, has harbored a strong interest in China since childhood, particularly in martial art films. This led him to proactively study Chinese in Turkiye and eventually sparked the desire to pursue his studies in China.

In 2016, Eddie arrived in Xi'an and enrolled at Xidian University, pursuing a bachelor of business administration.

"Xi'an not only boasts modern skyscrapers, but also holds ancient buildings steeped in profound history and culture, which made me fall deeply in love with this city. Places like the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the Bell and Drum towers, and the Xi'an City Wall – I have visited them many times," Eddie expressed.

Warm and kindhearted people

During his studies, Eddie traveled to many cities in China. To him, each city possesses a unique temperament and distinctive features, but only in Xi'an does he feel the most at home.

"The people in Xi'an are warm, kind, and sincere," Eddie remarked. During his study period in Xi'an, Eddie made numerous friends.

In 2020, after completing his undergraduate studies, Eddie returned to Turkiye and began working in his hometown. It wasn't until 2023 that he returned to China, this time to pursue a master's degree in business administration at Xidian University.

Choosing to study in Xi'an on two separate occasions, Eddie stated, "I have made many friends in this city. They have always cared for me, and I have always cared for them. They are like my family."

Irresistible cuisine

Xi'an's diverse cuisine also stands as a significant reason for Eddie's decision to stay in the city.

Eddie can effortlessly list the city's various signature delicacies. He can passionately discuss which eatery serves the best yangrou paomo, or pita bread soaked in lamb soup, and where to find the most authentic Xi'an barbecue.

In addition to his studies, Eddie and his friends have jumped at the entrepreneurship opportunities that the city has offered. They have opened a coffee shop and a hot pot restaurant.

"I am very optimistic about the city's future, and I hope to grow alongside Xi'an," Eddie expressed, brimming with anticipation.
