On March 6, Ye Niuping, mayor of Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, met with Kyoo-il Jo, mayor of Jinju in South Korea, and his delegation.
Ye welcomed Kyoo-il Jo and his delegation and briefly introduced Xi'an's economic and social development. He stated that since the establishment of sister city relations between Xi'an and Jinju in 2016, they have achieved fruitful results in a wide range of exchanges and cooperation in fields such as economy, trade, culture, tourism, sports, and education.
A large-scale cultural and tourism exchange event titled "Spring of Pomegranate Flowers" has become a regular bilateral exchange activity between China and South Korea, serving as a symbol of the friendship between Xi'an and Jinju.
He expressed hope that both sides will actively strengthen cooperation in areas such as economic and trade investment and cultural tourism and contribute to the stable development of the strategic partnership between China and South Korea.
Kyoo-il Jo expressed his appreciation for Xi'an's achievements in economic and social development. He noted that Xi'an has a rich historical heritage, plentiful scientific and educational resources, a solid industrial foundation, and strong development prospects.
He also expressed hope for closer economic and trade exchanges, cultural exchanges, and friendly interactions, as well as the expansion of mutually-beneficial cooperation.
After the meeting, the two cities signed a memorandum of understanding on exchanges and cooperation in the aerospace industry.
