The 2023 Shaanxi · Hong Kong Film Culture and Art Exhibition opened in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on Dec 8.

The event aims to show the diverse aspects of Hong Kong's film culture to Shaanxi citizens through an "online + offline" approach.

During the 10-day event, three major themed activities are being held: the Hong Kong Film Culture Exhibition, screenings of classic films from Hong Kong, and a Hong Kong Film Concert.

Among them, the Hong Kong Film Culture Exhibition displays more than 800 collections related to Hong Kong films; the Hong Kong classic film screening show plays nine classic films shot from 1990 to 2020; and popular Hong Kong film songs are performed live at the Hong Kong Film Concert.

Shaanxi citizens can experience the charm of Hong Kong films up close, as well as enjoy Hong Kong's unique cultural heritage and learn more about the details of social life in Hong Kong.

Shaanxi has a close relationship with Hong Kong films. Since the 1980s, Xi'an Film Studio (now Xiying Group) has been cooperating with film companies there to produce a series of outstanding films.

The film "A Chinese Odyssey" produced by Shaanxi and Hong Kong is now considered a classic. Many of the dialogues and soundbites in the film have entered into the daily lexicon in China.
