The ancient city of Xi'an has left a profound impression on 27 overseas students who recently participated in a 10-day summer camp in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

The students are from nine countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, including Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Venezuela, Uzbekistan, and Iran.

The event is a part of the 2023 Chinese Bridge Summer Camps for Youths of the Belt and Road Initiative Partner Countries and is organized by the School of Chinese Studies at Xi'an International Studies University.

On Aug 20, the overseas students arrived in Xi'an from Beijing and delved into an immersive experience of Xi'an's history, culture, local customs, and unique cuisine.

For most of the students, it was their first time visiting Xi'an. On the second day of their trip, they visited the Xi'an City Wall, explored the Shuyuanmen Street area, and visited the Bell and Drum towers.

On Aug 23, the overseas students toured a grain and oil processing center of Xi'an Aiju Grain and Oil Industrial Group and personally experienced the making of biangbiang noodles and huamo, or decorated steamed buns.

They also visited the Qinling Four Rare Animal Science Park on Aug 24, where they had the opportunity to see adorable giant pandas, graceful crested ibises, and other rare animals, and praised Shaanxi's ecological and environmental protection measures.

In the following days, they will also tour Yongxingfang, Qujiang Lake Ruins Park, and Fucha Tea Village to experience Shaanxi's local customs, beautiful scenery, unique cuisine, and achievements in rural vitalization.

They will also explore the bustling morning market on Hongzhuan South Road and immerse themselves in the daily lives of locals.
