The Guangren Temple Cultural Scenic Spot – located in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province – was recently designated as a national 4A-level scenic spot, according to the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.
Built during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the temple sits at the northwest corner of the Xi'an City Wall. In 1983, it was listed as a national key temple by the State Council.
With a peculiar architectural layout, the temple's overall shape resembles a sleeping dragon, which is rarely seen among temple buildings.
The temple enshrines one of the world's only two statues of Buddha at the age of 12 and the largest Thousand-hand Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva in Shaanxi. It is also the place of worship of Princess Wencheng of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) in Chang'an (ancient Xi'an).
The temple opens to the public for free on May 1, 2019.
