In recent years, Xi'an Museum – in the city of Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province – has been exploring its own path to high-quality development.

The museum is actively making new attempts in many fields and has launched various cloud exhibitions, cloud livestreams and cloud study tours – allowing the public to enjoy its exhibitions without having to leave home.

The upgraded No 2 and No 3 exhibition halls of the museum have further narrowed the distance between the audience, cultural relics and history through various innovative exhibition methods.

On this year's International Museum Day on May 18, the new AR or augmented reality glasses service of Xi'an Museum was launched. Tourists can now wear AR glasses to vividly learn about the past and present and the story behind the cultural relics.

Also this year, the museum's AR smart social education book Return to Chang'an was launched, using AR technology to extend the content of the book and realizing a new model of museum curriculum education.

In addition, the museum's cultural and creative products have been developed from scratch and now there are more than 240 cultural and creative products in 36 series.

Meanwhile, locals are being invited to actively participate in the development of the museum, so as to shorten the gap between museum and audience and get more people to become passionate about the institution.

That marketing drive has already paid dividends and the museum now boasts a volunteer team of more than 250 people.
