The 2026 national railway summer travel rush kicked off on July 1 and will run until Aug 31. China Railway Xi'an Group Co expects to handle 31 million passenger trips during this period, with a daily average of 500,000, representing a 4.8 percent year-on-year increase.

Judging by advance ticket sales, passenger flows are mainly bound for destinations like Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu, dominated by tourists, students, and migrant workers.

To meet travel demands, railway authorities will boost transport capacity on Fridays and Sundays. Train services will be dynamically adjusted in response to fluctuating passenger volumes, with additional trains put into operation as needed during peak hours.

This summer marks the first such peak season following the opening of the Xi'an-Shiyan High-speed Railway and the operation of Xi'andong Railway Station. The station's commissioning will effectively ease the transport pressure on Xi'anbei Railway Station and Xi'an Railway Station, and further optimize the transport organization of the Xi'an railway hub.

Utilizing the transport capacity of the newly opened railway, 58 trains running from Xi'andong to Nanyangdong, Hankou, Chongqingbei, and other destinations will be scheduled, further strengthening connectivity between Northwest China and Central, South, and Southwest China.
