An intangible cultural heritage art troupe from the Shaanxi Academy of Ancient Music Culture in Xi'an city, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, traveled to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's capital, in January to participate in cultural and artistic performances.
The troupe presented a Xi'an wind and percussion ensemble, guzheng (a traditional Chinese zither-like instrument) solos, and lion dance performances. Liu Jian, vice-chairman of the Lianhu District Wushu Association, a martial arts group, performed Shaanxi Hongquan (red fist) and spear skills, both designated as national intangible cultural heritages.
His performance allowed Saudi audiences to experience the magnificent splendor of Chinese martial arts, with locals speaking highly of the unique charm of Chinese culture and sincerely hoping that the friendship between Saudi Arabia and China would last forever.
The Shaanxi Academy of Ancient Music Culture will continue to conduct international tours and cultural exchange activities, promote traditional Chinese culture, and drive mutual learning between civilizations.
