Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, has been an important hub for commercial and trade exchanges since ancient times. Now, the city is transforming into an international consumption center by optimizing its commercial layout and reshaping urban consumption spaces.

In 2024, Xi'an added over 600,000 square meters of commercial space and generated 491.51 billion yuan ($67.61 billion) in revenue from retail sales of consumer goods, an increase of 2.2 percent year over year. This accounted for 43.6 percent of Shaanxi province's total.

Xi'an will implement four actions this year to boost consumption and enhance development momentum: trade-in programs for vehicles, home appliances, digital technology, and electric bicycles; promotional activities that integrate commerce, culture, tourism, and sports; efforts to enhance enterprise services; and more high-quality consumption suppliers.
