Teams from 11 agriculture-related districts, counties, and development zones with more than 500 performers presented a magnificent folk culture extravaganza to audiences at the 2026 Xi'an Spring Festival Drum and Gong Competition on Feb 26.

Through drum and gong performances, the competition promotes traditional Chinese culture and enriches people's cultural lives, playing a joyful Spring Festival melody.
Each participating team presented unique regional styles and demonstrated the power of drum and gong art, drawing waves of applause and cheers from the audience.

"The sound of drums and gongs makes the Spring Festival atmosphere so lively! I have experienced both the charm of traditional culture and the joy of the Chinese New Year," said Wang, an audience member.
Li, a participant of the competition, said that taking part in the drum and gong competition was a great opportunity to improve herself and feel the power of teamwork. She hoped to convey Chinese New Year blessings through her performance and help more people fall in love with traditional folk culture.
The competition was also broadcast live via multiple platforms, including Xi'an Release and Xi'an Culture and Tourism, attracting nearly 450,000 online viewers.
