Xi'an rises in innovation capacity

A report on the innovation capacity of new first-tier cities in China in 2021 was recently released, and Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, ranked 11th among 19 cities.

In 2021, Xi'an's comprehensive innovation index was between 0.45 and 0.6, moving from an innovative growing city to an innovative stable city.

Xi'an has long been a city with abundant innovative resources, advantages and potential.

In January this year, Xi'an rolled out plans for the city's scientific and technological innovation and development during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period.

The plan proposed that by 2025, the city should have basically built a Silk Road Science and Technology Innovation Center with international competitiveness, strive to become a national and regional science and technology innovation center, enter the ranks of the world's most high-level innovative cities, and become a key hub in the global innovation network.

Moving forward, Xi'an will continue to explore and promote the transformation of its original innovation and scientific and educational resources advantages so as to become an international, modern and innovative city with more distinctive characteristics.
