IC industry shows rapid development in Xi'an

Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, has become one of the core areas for the country to develop integrated circuits (IC), with its IC industrial cluster selected among the first batch of national strategic emerging industrial cluster development projects.

In 2021, the scale of Xi'an's IC industry reached 127.7 billion yuan ($18.48 billion), a year-on-year increase of 26.2 percent, ranking among the top in the country.

Xi'an's IC design industry enjoys a high reputation in China. It not only has a long history of development and deep technology accumulation, but also a high gathering of talents. Compared to other places, Xi'an has unique advantages in terms of talents, scientific research and cost.

Currently, Xi'an is home to 120 semiconductor design companies, and their products cover the fields of communications, storage, and the internet of things.

For IC manufacturing, packaging, and supporting industries, Xi'an has also gathered a number of companies, such as Samsung, ZTE and Micron.
