Key projects inject vitality into Xi'an's development

Construction of a raft of industrial projects with a high level of technology and a large investment scale is progressing strongly in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

On Aug 2-3, an observation activity to gauge the progress of the major endeavors in Shaanxi was held in Xi'an.

One is the Skyworth Intelligent Electronics Industrial Park, located in Jinghe New City in Xixian New Area which is co-built by Xi'an and Xianyang cities.

With a total investment of 10 billion yuan ($1.48 billion), the project will cover an area of 700 mu (46.7 hectares). It will feature 58 production plants, 11 office buildings and seven dormitory buildings.

On completion, it will have an annual production capacity of 1 million kitchen appliances, 500,000 smart home appliances, 500 million 3C batteries and 100 million special lithium batteries.

This will make it the largest production hub for smart home appliances in Northwest China.

Construction of Xi'an Cummins Engine Co's new engines plant and technology center is also going well in the city. The project is being divided into two phases. After completion of the first phase, the company's annual engine production capacity there will reach 50,000 units.

When finished, the second phase currently being built will see engine production expand to 100,000 units per annum at full capacity.

Elsewhere, an expansion of Shaanxi Heavy Duty Automobile Co's existing plant is also currently under way.

The project mainly includes building a workshop for final assemblies, a workshop for frames, a debugging and testing workshop and an R&D center – as well as new production lines for stamping, welding, spraying and final assemblies.

It will have an annual production capacity of 200,000 heavy-duty frame assemblies, 100,000 cab assemblies and 100,000 heavy-duty truck chassis assemblies on full completion.
