Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, will go all out in 2023 to boost the growth of its pillar industries and emerging industries, according to Xi'an municipal bureau of industry and information technology.

Efforts will be made by the city to increase the output value of the six pillar industries by more than 15 percent with the scale of 850 billion yuan ($125.78 billion), driving the total industrial output value above the designated size to exceed the 1-trillion-yuan mark.

Xi'an's pillar industries cover electronics information, automobiles, new materials and new energy, high-end equipment, aerospace and food and biomedicine.

The city will focus on the emerging industries of big data, artificial intelligence and robotics, as well as additive manufacturing – striving to achieve annual output values exceeding 50 billion yuan, 30 billion yuan, and 10 billion yuan, respectively.

The annual output values of the new generation of information technology and satellite application sectors are projected to achieve double-digit growth.

A number of future industries – such as life and health, brain science, hydrogen energy and energy storage – will also be a focus of the city.

Through the establishment of emerging industry supply chains led by top enterprises, the city will push to cultivate three emerging industries each with an output value of over 100 billion yuan in three years.

In addition, Xi'an has set up an industrial multiplication project guidance fund of 10 billion yuan. Also, for each of the six pillar industries there is a special fund of no less than 5 billion yuan, and for each of 19 key industrial supply chains there is a sub-fund of no less than 3 billion yuan – all to promote industrial development.
