Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, signed a memorandum of cooperation with Knorr-Bremse Systems for Rail Vehicles Enterprise Management (Beijing) Co, a subsidiary of Knorr-Bremse Group, on Feb 22.

Li Mingyuan, mayor of Xi'an, witnessed the signing and met with Jonathan Edward Paddison, director of Knorr-Bremse Asia Pacific.

Founded in 1905 and headquartered in Munich, Germany, Knorr-Bremse is the world's leading braking system manufacturer for rail vehicles and commercial vehicles. For many years, it has grown in the Chinese market, especially in Xi'an, and has contributed to the development of the city's rail transit industry chain.

The two sides plan to build an integrated base covering new project delivery, technical support, maintenance and production, customer service and other businesses, to further promote the development of Xi'an's rail transit industry chain.

Li went on to say that, in recent years, Xi'an has steadily promoted the construction of an urban rail transit network, and has strived to build a multi-level and integrated rail transit system that will contribute to the city's high-quality development.

It is hoped that Knorr-Bremse will strengthen cooperation in the fields of equipment manufacturing, technology research and development, and smart services. Xi'an will provide all-round service guarantees for this project, Li added.

Paddison expressed his gratitude to Xi'an for its long-term care and assistance. He said that Knorr-Bremse has attached great importance to the development opportunities available in Xi'an, and that the company will further strengthen cooperation efforts to promote the early implementation of the project.
