Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, is doubling down on its advanced manufacturing industry as it aims to make the city a key player in this sector.

Its efforts have already seen fruitful results.

In 2022, the city climbed eight places to rank 12th among the top 100 advanced manufacturing cities in the country.

From January to December, the output value of the city's six pillar industries increased by 27.9 percent, among which the growth rates of the automotive, high-end equipment, new materials and new energy industries reached 56 percent, 27.8 percent, and 31.4 percent, respectively.

Throughout the year, the city's automobile output was 1.26 million, a year-on-year increase of 96.48 percent, with new energy vehicles accounting for a whopping 1.02 million, marking an annual increase of 277.5 percent.

The total output value of BYD and Samsung Electronics in the city exceeded 100 billion yuan ($14.03 billion) for the first time, and three new manufacturing companies with respective output values of 10 billion yuan were added.

From January to November, 225 advanced manufacturing and R&D platform projects completed a total investment of 122.09 billion yuan, accounting for 105.6 percent of the annual planned investment.

Moving forwards, Xi'an will continue to implement the industrywide multiplication action, optimize key industrial chains, and introduce more related projects, to lay a foundation for the further development of the city's advanced manufacturing industry.
