In 2022, Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, will see 897 municipal key projects with a total investment of 2.5 trillion yuan ($393.32 billion) start construction or begin operating. Among the projects, 209 have received over 3 billion yuan in investment.

Of that, 640 of the projects are industrial projects costing combined 1.43 trillion yuan. They include the Samsung Phase II production expansion project, BYD's new energy auto parts production expansion project, the SF Express Northwest Regional Headquarters project and the Belt and Road Cultural Exchange Center.
With a total investment of 575.72 billion yuan, 172 are involved in the social undertaking and livelihood security fields. For example, 116 schools will open in September, as will the Xi'an Public Health Center.
There are 56 urban construction and infrastructure projects. Seven metro lines are under construction, and the third-phase expansion project of the Xi'an Xianyang International Airport is progressing smoothly.

In addition, 29 projects involve environmental protection, including the Doumen Reservoir project and the systematic project of urban waterlogging control.
As of Jan 25, 97 key municipal projects, including schools, hospitals, and major infrastructure projects, had resumed work in the city.
The Xi'an municipal development and reform commission will promote the resumption of work on key projects as soon as possible, and strive to achieve a 40-percent operating rate among key municipal projects in the first quarter.
