A slew of major projects currently under construction are going from strength to strength in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.
At the end of August, some 313 municipal key projects under construction in the city in the current year had completed investment of 242.6 billion yuan ($35.49 billion), reaching 86.6 percent of the annual capital target.
Since the start of the year, the city has made great efforts to continuously expand its effective investment and fully advance the construction of key projects. A total of 112 of the 117 new projects have now started construction, for an operating rate of 95 percent.
In terms of industries, 52 advanced manufacturing projects have completed investment of 47.26 billion yuan to date, accounting for 92.02 percent of the annual target and 77 service industry projects have so far completed investment of 37.27 billion yuan.
In addition, 47 urban construction and infrastructure projects have completed investment of 55.59 billion yuan, equivalent to 85.36 percent of the projected annual spend.

It's estimated that before the end of the year, the first phase of Metro Line 5, Metro Line 9 (Lintong section) and Metro Line 6 will be commissioned and ready for trial operations.
In addition, 82 social welfare and public services projects have to date completed investment of 71.41 billion yuan.
Also, in 2020, the city's education projects have been included in the management of municipal key projects and a total of 30 educational projects have been scheduled for this year.
