At a recent gathering, folk artists mixed wheat flour in a container and slowly added water, then steamed the dough for about 20 to 25 minutes.
The Xi'an dough modeling technique is a municipal intangible cultural heritage. The exhibition selected representative inheritors of flour modeling in Xi'an and more than 20 fans across the city.
The museum offers many booths for display of Chinese traditional handicrafts called dough modeling. Visitors can also learn about the long history of Xi’an dough modeling, one of the most popular folk arts in China.
With "most popular folk arts in China" as its theme, an intangible cultural heritage exhibition of “dough modeling” was unveiled in Banpo Museum of Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on July 30.
As a cultural welfare project in Xi'an, the exhibition provides visitors with free tickets. They can download invitations by following the WeChat account called "The Voice of Wen Tour in Xi'an" by Xi'an Culture and Tourism Bureau. With the invitation, visitors can enter Banpo Museum for free from August 5 to August 9 to enjoy the artworks of the exhibition.
