Scientific and technological innovation to receive boost in Xi'an

In 2021, Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, will accelerate the development of scientific and technological innovation.

By the end of the year, the city is expected to be home to 8,700 national high-tech enterprises and promote 500 projects related to the on-site commercialization of scientific and technological achievements.

The turnover of technology contracts should exceed 220 billion yuan ($34.63 billion).

This year, the city will build 60 featured demonstration platforms, such as transformation accelerators and 40 innovation platforms such as innovation consortiums, and promote the implementation of 10 major scientific and technological achievement industrialization projects.

The comprehensive development of artificial intelligence in the fields of research and development, platform construction, talent training, and ecological construction will also be promoted.

Throughout the year, the city will cultivate 100 gazelle enterprises at the municipal level and above. Gazelle companies are fast-growing and have base revenues of at least $1 million and four years of sustained revenue growth.

All kinds of entities will be encouraged to build university-incubated, institute-supported, and enterprise-led entrepreneurship and innovation carriers.

A total of 150 technology transfer institutions above the municipal level will be cultivated.

Meanwhile, the city will also build a technology transaction enterprise database, promote technology transaction credit loans, and serve no less than 710 loans to technology enterprises with a loan amount of 3.3 billion yuan throughout the year.

In addition, a group of international science and technology cooperation bases, offshore innovation and entrepreneurship platforms will be built, and the city will introduce 100 high-level overseas talents this year.
