The Weiqu lantern market in Chang'an district of Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, attracts hordes of people out to buy lanterns on Jan 30. As the Lantern Festival approaches on the 15th day of the first lunar month – on Feb 5 – handmade traditional lanterns and modern electronic lanterns with unique shapes are in hot demand by customers at the market.
