To celebrate the approaching Chinese New Year, a series of activities called Enjoy Chinese New Year in Xi'an was launched at Daming Palace National Heritage Park in Xi'an, the capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on Jan 1.

As an important plan of the Xi'an government, the activities will last until Feb 9, the sixteenth day of the first lunar month in Chinese lunar calendar.

With nine themes, Xi'an will launch 46 key activities and 255 mass cultural events during the period, such as cultural performances, intangible cultural heritage displays and colorful light shows.

It aims to showcase Xi'an's profound culture and a brand-new city image, allowing tourists at home and abroad to experience outstanding traditional Chinese culture.
