The China-Europe Chang'an freight train has not only brought economic benefits to domestic consumers, but has also helped local enterprises in Xi'an – capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province – to expand into international markets.
One example is Shaanxi Little Camel Overseas Warehouse Technology Co, a company which supplies products imported from overseas. In addition to being engaged in the bulk trade of commodities like peat, wood, potash fertilizer, flour and edible oil, it is also involved in many other fields such as red wine, milk powder, candy and chocolate.
All the products are imported from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, and most of them are directly transported to Xi'an via the China-Europe Chang'an freight train.

The enterprise has currently got the license to operate the train from Xi'an to the city of Orsha in Belarus, and plans to develop a cross-border e-commerce platform for Central and Eastern Europe in the future.
Elsewhere, as a time-honored grain enterprise in Xi'an, Xi'an Aiju Grain and Oil Industrial Group has built up a multinational supply chain integrating planting, processing, warehousing, logistics, distributions and sales, relying on the freight train.
In the first half of this year, the group imported about 13,000 metric tons of grain and oil through the freight train, increasing the volume about four times compared with the same period last year.

Another example of local companies benefitting is Silk Road City, a cross-border e-commerce service platform operated by Shaanxi Silk Road City Holding Group Co.
"We have our own overseas warehouse and we can transport goods from Shaanxi and other domestic provinces to Kazakhstan by the freight train," said the company president Yuan Chaohui.
"Then we deliver the goods to overseas customers from the warehouse," Yuan added.
The overseas warehouse being operated by Silk Road City in Kazakhstan has provided overseas warehousing and logistics delivery services for nearly 100 cross-border e-commerce companies.
"The freight train has played a very important role in promoting the business development of our company in Kazakhstan," Yuan said.
