The Committee for Handling Proposals of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Xi'an Municipal Committee held a plenary meeting on Feb 1, during the fifth session of the 14th Xi'an Municipal Committee of the CPPCC.

As of Feb 1, the meeting had received 534 proposals.

The quality of proposals at the meeting has been significantly improved since last year, with precise, topic-specific proposals being put forward. Also, the proportion of collective recommendations has increased by 4 percent compared with the previous year.

The proposals were closely linked to the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and the long-term targets for 2035.

They included opinions and suggestions on strategic, forward-looking issues related to the 14th National Games and 10 key work breakthroughs, as well as countermeasures for specific problems involving the vital interests of the people.

After the closing of the fifth session of the 14th Xi'an Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, a proposal-handling meeting will be held, and the recommendations will be sent to the relevant units for processing.
