Xi'an should construct a municipal-level special agricultural product exhibition area to promote its agricultural and sideline product brands internationally, said Lei Zhenlong, a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Xi'an Municipal Committee.

Lei made the announcement at the fifth session of the 14th Xi'an Municipal Committee of the CPPCC held in Xi'an on Feb 1. He is also the president of the Shaanxi Agricultural and Sideline Food Chamber of Commerce.

The exhibition area will mainly focus on grain and economic crops, horticultural products, livestock products, poultry products and forest products, Lei said.

He also suggested speeding up the development of pollution-free agricultural products, green food, organic farming products and geographical indications for agricultural products.

The city should make full use of e-commerce platforms and expand the sales channels of agricultural and sideline products through online and offline integration and other sales methods.
