The Xi'an two sessions organized the first group interviews of 2021 for members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Xi'an Municipal Committee and deputies to the Xi'an Municipal People's Congress. Xi'an's two sessions include the fifth session of the 14th Xi'an Municipal Committee of the CPPCC and the sixth session of the 16th Xi'an Municipal People's Congress.

The two events are underway in Xi'an, the capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, from Feb 1-4.

During the group interviews, Bao Feng, a CPPCC Xi'an Municipal Committee member, suggested that Xi'an vigorously attract high-level talents from home and abroad and accelerate scientific and technological transformation achievements. The city should also build an open and efficient government and improve urban governance capabilities and governance levels.

It is necessary to promote the innovation of strategic emerging industries with the "domestic and international dual cycle" and enhance cross-border R&D cooperation and technical exchanges among enterprises, universities and research institutes, Bao added.

Wang Shaofan, a deputy to Xi'an Municipal People's Congress and executive president of Shaanxi Yuanfeng Group Co, said that the city's environmental protection work achieved gratifying results in 2020, with 250 days of good air quality throughout the year, an increase of 25 days year-on-year.

"As an ordinary citizen, I really feel the changes in the environment in Xi'an; the sky is blue, the water is cleaner, and the air is fresher. We also enjoy more green spaces, clean water systems and environmentally friendly travel options," Wang said.
