The fourth session of the 14th Xi'an Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) kicked off in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on May 16.

A total of 464 CPPCC members attended the opening ceremony, including Yue Huafeng, chairman of the CPPCC Xi'an Committee, Wu Jian, vice-chairman of the CPPCC Xi'an Committee, and Wang Hao, Party secretary of the Xi'an Municipal Committee.
Wu presided over the conference.
Yue Huafeng delivered the annual work report of the CPPCC Xi'an Committee for the past year, giving a briefing on its achievements in 2019 and plans for 2020.

The report said that the committee will strengthen political guidance, help coordinate epidemic prevention and control, and guide CPPCC members to perform their duties to contribute to the high-quality development of Xi'an.
As of 2 pm on Saturday, the conference received a total of 637 proposals submitted by CPPCC members, focusing on high-quality economic development, speeding up construction of a national central city, promoting modernization of urban governance capabilities, green development and improving people's livelihoods, as well as strengthening the integrated development of culture and tourism.
