To prevent the transmission of COVID-19, Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, will make stronger efforts related to epidemiological surveys, nucleic acid screenings, isolation and control, according to Zhang Bo, deputy director of the Xi'an health commission, on March 16.

That same day, the information office of the Xi'an municipal government held a press conference on the prevention and control of the pandemic to report on the current state of the city's prevention and control work.

From March 5 to 15, a total of 85 local confirmed cases were found in Xi'an. So far, all cases have been transferred to designated hospitals for isolation and treatment.

According to the epidemiological survey, contacts of these cases have been identified and are subject to quarantine measures in accordance with relevant requirements.

On March 16, Xi'an launched a new round of citywide nucleic acid testing in Lianhu and Weiyang districts and the Xi'an High-tech Industries Development Zone. As of 3:30 pm that day, about 4.1 million people had been sampled, and 723,300 people had received their results, all of which were negative.

The general public is required to abide by the current social control measures, not to leave the city unless necessary, and actively participate in nucleic acid screening.

If you are notified that you have possibly been in contact with a confirmed case, please report it to your community as soon as possible. If you have virus-related symptoms such as fever or dry cough, please wear a mask and visit the fever clinic of a nearby hospital as soon as possible.
