Lintong District

Lintong is an ancient magic land with youthful vitality. And from the Zhou, the Qin, the Han to the Tang Dynasty, it always served as part of the capital area, and was thus in the very center of the political, economic and cultural life of the country. As the east gate of ancient capital Xi’an, Lintong is 30 kilometers to the city center. Covering a total area of 915 square kilometers and a population of more than 700,000, the district has under its jurisdiction 23 street offices, 28 neighborhood communities and 185 administrative villages.

Always bearing the title of “Lintong is with best cultural relics in the world”, the district is the gathering place of a large number of rarely-seen national cultural relics, with Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Park as the best representative. Up-scale tourism resources have taken form, and they may rank first in the world in terms of their numbers, varieties, levels and compositions. Within the district there are 6 historical and cultural sites protected at the national level, 3 at the provincial level and 57 at the district/county level. The abundant historical and cultural heritages make Lintong a shinning pearl in the tourism chain of the Devine Land of China, and a must-see tourism destination for tourists coming to Shaanxi. Ever since the reform and opening-up, more than 200 leaders both of the CPC and the Nation coming here for an inspection tour, and over 200 heads of state or government of other countries paid a sight-see tour.

Since the reform and opening-up, Lintong actively carried out the strategy of tourism-driven development, and completed the upgrading from business reception to industrial reception and to the cultivation of pillar industry reception, which led to the formation of three famous tourism brands of the Qin Style, the Qin Music and Dance and the Royal Hot Spring. With the perfecting tourism service functions, related industries are promoted and further developed. At present, there are 16 business and trade markets, 12 chain supermarkets, and over 4,000 business spots centering around providing tourism services. There are 2,630 individual businesses, 41 travel agencies, over 1,000 national certificated tourist guides, 9 three-star hotels, more than 700 taxies, 349 other kinds of passenger vehicles, over 11,000 fixed dinning seats, 5, 800 hotel bunks, and 6 tourism parking lots. There are 6,000 tourism employees, which adds to another 40,000 social employment posts. Tourism has become the important pillar industry in the social economic development of Lintong.

With the further development of the market economy, guided by the scientific outlook on development, and by correctly reviewing the tourism industry as well as the process and status quo of the continuous development of Lintong as a tourism destination, the district has determinedly launched the construction of Lintong National Tourism and Recreation Park, vigorously pushed forward the development of the tourism areas, forcefully integrated tourism resources, made great efforts to solve the bottle-neck barriers in the development of the tourism industry, and the take-off of the tourism industry of Lintong is just around the corner.
