The majority of the goods shipped were produced by large Japanese-invested companies in China, with a value exceeding US$17 million.

Nippon Express (Xi’an) Co. Ltd has had long-term and strong ties with the Xi’an International Trade and Logistics Park. Nippon Express Co., Ltd. is the largest logistics enterprise in Japan, which settled in the Xi’an International Trade & Logistics Park back in 2013 and established its Xi’an branch to provide bonded warehousing and logistics services to Japanese firms based in China. Entrusted by the Japanese government (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) and after a series of inspections in many places across China, it finally chose Xi’an as its preferred logistics base for the Nippon Express special train. Since “Chang’an” opened the route to Europe in August 2016, Nippon Express (Xi’an) has increased its cooperation with Xi’an International Trade and Logistics Park by collecting goods of Japanese companies in China for the train and became the important partner of the park in terms of international logistics.

This year is an important one for both sides to further their partnership. Entrusted by the Japanese government and after a series of inspections in many places across China, Nippon Express, which was satisfied with the performance of China Railway Express “Chang’an”, finally chose Xi’an as its preferred logistics base for the Nippon Express special train and the multimodal transport company of Xi’an Port as the carrier..

“Nippon Express has been thinking of shifting ocean shipping to railway transport so as to cut costs and raise efficiency. In addition, China Railway Express boasts the most advanced “Beidou In-Transit Monitoring System” for containers that is capable of monitoring the real-time movement of containers and that can offer strong security for the safety of cargoes,” said Sugiyama Tatsuo, Executive Director of Nippon Express, adding that with presence in Xi’an as early as in 2013, the company chooses Xi’an thanks to its irreplaceable advantage in location and that is why they are optimistic about the future of China Railway Express to Europe.

Since its establishment in 2008, guided by the mission of “opening ports” in China’s inland area; based on the services provided which cover China Railway Express to Europe “Chang’an”, “Xi’an Port”, first-class open port, pilot cross-border e-commerce, Xi’an International Trade and Logistics Park has made efforts to build an inland port model featuring fast document processing and convenient multimodal transport connection. Thanks to “Chang’an”, Shaanxi Province is now merged comprehensively in the global economic system, promoting the collection of resources and development of trade.
