Xi’an Symphony Orchestra to Give Tour Show in Italy

At the invitation of the Theatre of Saint Cecilia based in Rome, Italy, Xi’an Symphony Orchestra will visit Italy at the second half of November 2018, with two concerts named “Silk Road” to be held at Rome and Milan respectively, which will also serve as the international debut of this young orchestra.

The orchestra will work with top musicians of China and Italy - conductor Donato Renzetti, Pipa player Lan Weiwei, musician Yang Yi - to perform the classics of well-known Chinese composer Tan Dun, Italian opera master Rossini.

During the tour show, Lan Weiwei will join with Xi’an Symphony Orchestra to perform the Pipa (a traditional Chinese stringed instrument) Concerto of Tan Dun, which will present the dialog between human and nature in the melody of oriental music; Yang Yi’s reading in music accompaniment of the famous poem Passing Xiangji Temple by Wang Wei, a Chinese poet of Tang Dynasty will bring the double charms of Chinese ancient poems and western symphony.

The 17th Xi’an International Music Festival will be opened with the performance of Berlin Philharmonic at the Xi’an Concert Hall on November 20; and on the same day, as the music ambassador of the festival, Xi’an Symphony Orchestra will fly to Rome, which will spread the arts and cultures of the ancient city to other parts of the world.
