Xi’an International Table Tennis Open Tournament Closes

With some 150 players of 33 teams including 14 former national team players of China and other countries, the 4th “Silk Road” Xi’an China “Xifuxiang 6-Year Xifeng Cup” International Table Tennis Open concluded yesterday. The championship was played under the categories of group of cities and group of elites, with prize of 190,000 yuan given to the champion of group of elites, the top most in China of the events at the same level.

Co-sponsored by Chinese Table Tennis Association and Xi’an Municipal Government, the championship was titled exclusively by Shaanxi Xifuxiang Brand Operation Co. Ltd. An interesting incident took place during the event, where Philip, a former player of Poland national team, found it hard to win a game when playing with Chinese players. “Chinese players are the top ones in the world, it is really something if I can win even one game with them, so I come here mainly to enjoy the game.” As a first-timer to Xi’an, Philip was impressed by the ancient city, “Despite my short stay I can feel the charm of the city. We had a meal of hot pot on arriving in Xi’an, which I think is the best food in the world,” said Philip. His experience and feeling also interprets the significance of the championship, which is to integrate Silk Road culture and sportsmanship to boost the cultural and people-to-people exchanges and to promote the table tennis of countries along the ancient Silk Road and the rest of the world.
