Sino-France Cultural Heritage Protection Symposium Opens in Xi’an

The “Exchange and Mutual Learning: Sino-France Cultural Heritage Protection Symposium” co-sponsored by Shaanxi Administration of Cultural Heritage and French Embassy in China was held in Xi’an on November 21. Wei Zengjun, Vice Governor of Shaanxi Province and Liu Shuguang, Deputy Director of State Administration of Cultural Heritage, and Director of Secretariat for Heritage of French Ministry of Culture attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Wei Zengjun remarked that endeavors have been made in Shaanxi in cultural heritage protection and restoration in recent years and as a result, the number of cultural heritage protection projects increased year on year with added investment, expended professional team and intensified cooperation with cultural heritage protection institutions and organizations both at home and abroad. The cultural heritage legislation system, structure design and concept application in France would be used as special reference to promote cultural heritage protection in Shaanxi and further bilateral exchange and cooperation. Liu Shuguang pointed out that Shaanxi has taken the lead in cultural heritage protection and surely this Sino-France cooperation would set an example for international cooperation in this field.
More than 200 experts in cultural heritage from both China and France attended the Colloquium and held a 3-day exchange and communication centered on cultural heritage protection and management.
