“Eighth generation of TAETEA Tea”: tea-serving skills demonstrated by TAETEA Tea Institute

On Oct 15, the 5th International Tea Culture Exchange Exhibition (ITCE Chajing)  & the Tea-serving Skills Show took place at the Shaanxi General Assembly Hall. Fans of tea from around the country enjoyed the shows featuring the tea-serving skills, the art of tea and the tea-serving etiquettes performed by top tea artisans from China, South Korea and Japan.

The art of tea is considered to be an art form based on the preparation and enjoyment of tea, as well as a way to cultivate oneself using tea.

The “Eighth Generation of TAETEA: Art of Tea Show” is presented by the TAETEA Group, whose chairman, Wu Yuanzhi, is also the founder of the Chinese-style TAETEA Art of Tea.

The TAETEA Art of Tea uses a comprehensive system of tea-preparation, it is also the study of the art of tea using both self-reflection and contemplation as a tool.

The TAETEA method includes eight steps including: washing, drying, waking, meditating, cultivating, curating, sharing, and letting go. Accompanied by classical Chinese music, the process is soothing, meditative, and good for the soul.

Enjoying tea is akin to the art of Zen, the two are complementary. The Xiujing Institute of Tea Culture from South Korea also demonstrated the art of Zen tea at the event.

The Zen tea ceremony is performed by six people, who enjoy tea leaves or tea powder in order to improve one's state of mind. The Qianjia Tea Institute of Japan also performed a Japanese-style tea ceremony for the audience.
