Xi’an Contemporary Art Show Debuts in Italy

It is known that 2017 Xi’an Contemporary Art Show—Beyond the Wall has been held in the Palazzo Medici Riccardi of Florence, Italy after its exhibition in Xi’an, Chengdu and Wuhan. Palazzo Medici Riccardi was built during the period of the Renaissance, where Michelangelo used to live and work. These 97 pieces of arts by 23 native artists represent the best parts of Xi’an contemporary arts and are also the window for foreigners to get to know the evolution and social life of Xi’an.

Florence, the birthplace of Western Renaissance, is a famous ancient art city and the paradise for arts while Xi’an, the origin of Silk Road, is the capital of thirteen dynasties; with tremendous cultural heritage, the two cities both represent the change and evolution of the eastern and western civilization.

Yang Chao, the designer of the show and also the curator of Xi’an Contemporary Art museum, expressed that the traditional culture should dock with the contemporary one and only by breaking through the wall of thoughts can we build a new cultural system of contemporary Xi’an and realize the dream of a strong cultural city.
