Deputy Mayor Li Jing Met with Delegation Led by British Rothham Mayor Lindsay Pichley and Participated in the UK-Xi’an Medical Seminar

On the morning of January 9, 2017,  Deputy Mayor Li Jing met with the medical delegation of Sheffield cities and regions led by Rothham City Mayor Lindsay Pichley and British Embassy Counsellor for regional affairs Roque.

On behalf of the Municipal Government Li Jing welcomed the delegation, she said that, with the assistance of the British Embassy in China, the contacts between the UK and Xi’an has been continuously strengthened, and as the starting point city of the Silk Road Economic Belt, Xi’an will further its step to open up to the outsid world, and strengthen the exchange and cooperation with countries around the globe including the United Kingdom. Xi’an Municipal Government are making progressive efforts to strengthen the construction of medical and health sector, and has built a complete medical system. Xi’an will actively promote the friendly cooperation in medical field, and make joint efforts to build the exchange and cooperation platform in the field of medical treatment and health care sector.

Mayor Pichley expressed his appreciation for the warm reception of our city, and hoped that thanked the hospitality of our city and hope that the "UK-Xi’an Medical Seminar”  could contribute to the exchanges and cooperation in medial sector between Xi’an and the United Kingdom.

Both Li Jing and the UK delegation attended the opening ceremony of the seminar. Deputy Mayor Li Jing said in her speech that this bilateral pragmatic exchanges in the medical field shall lay a solid foundation for broader and deeper friendship and cooperation in the future. She expressed the expectations that, both sides adhere to the spirit of the Silk Road of "peace and cooperation, openness and tolerance, learning from each other, mutual benefit and win-win" , strengthen exchanges and making researches, push forward pragmatic cooperation and make greater contribution to the development of medical studies and to people's health.

On the seminar, related health organizations from both sides signed the memorandum of cooperation. British medical experts made presentations to their digital system for medical treatment and health care and to their new technologies.

Also present at the meeting were Huang Xiaohua, Deputy Secretary-General of the Municipal Government,  Liu Shunzhi, director of the Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission, and deputy director Wang Hongyan, and Cai Lanfang , Full-time Vice President of the Municipal Friendship Association.
