Xi'an, capital city of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, ranked ninth among the top 10 most popular tourist cities during the Spring Festival holiday, which ran from Feb 11 to 17, according to online travel agency Ctrip.
The other nine locations were Shanghai, Beijing, Suzhou, Luoyang, Shenzhen, Changsha, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Chongqing.
The reservation numbers at Xi'an's hotels and scenic spots also ranked high among cities in China.

During the seven-day break, the top five scenic spots with the largest growth in Xi'an were Kunming Lake Qixi Park, South Wutai Mountain, Bailuyuan Bailucang, Tang Paradise and Qujiang Polar Ocean Park, with growth rates of 530 percent, 465 percent, 420 percent, 403 percent and 393 percent, respectively.
Over the holiday, Xi'an launched a series of activities to enrich the tourism experience. Datang Everbright City, Tang Paradise, Xi'an City Wall Scenic Spot and Daming Palace National Heritage Park held lantern festivals, creating a festive atmosphere.
To improve the cultural tourism brand of "Qiannian Gudu, Changlai Chang'an," the city also launched cultural activities that followed festive themes, including Qinqiang Opera traditional repertoires, tourism performances and concerts, effectively enriching the spiritual and cultural life of citizens and tourists.
