When the starting pistol sounded at precisely 7:30 am on Nov 8, 24,000 runners taking part in the 2020 Xi'an Sunac Marathon sprang from Yongning Gate in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.
Now in its fourth year, Xi'an Marathon is one of the warm-up events for the upcoming 14th National Games and is also the first event after the Xi'an Marathon qualified for the national gold medal event.

This year's route had certain adjustments made on the basis of previous events, integrating more urban scenery and landmarks, enabling all the runners to take in more of the urban streetscape and experience the unique charms of Xi'an Marathon.
After intense competition, Mei Zengbiao won the men's half marathon in 1 hour, 8 minutes and 14 seconds, while Xia Yuyu won the women's half marathon in 1 hour, 17 minutes and 35 seconds.

Yang Dinghong won the men's full marathon in 2 hours, 17 minutes and 54 seconds, while Jin Mingming won the women's full marathon in 2 hours, 31 minutes and 29 seconds.
In order to better serve the event, 3,157 college student volunteers from seven universities and 943 social volunteers joined a voluntary team, helping out with such things as handing out materials.
