Spotlight shines on Silk Road Film Festival in Xi'an

The 7th Silk Road International Film Festival opened to great fanfare on Oct 11 in the city of Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, which is also the starting point of the ancient Silk Road.

This year's film festival is guided by China Film Administration and is being hosted by Shaanxi Provincial People's Government and Fujian Provincial People's Government.

It is being jointly organized by the Shaanxi Provincial Film Bureau and Xi'an municipal people's government.

The ongoing event -- which runs to Oct 16 -- is a professional and international film festival for film workers, fans and audiences from around the world.

It has attracted the participation of more than 3,000 works from 116 countries and regions.

Apart from the grand opening ceremony, the other main activities are the special film recommendations, film screenings and film forums -- as well as the support activities for the film carnival.

The Silk Road International Film Festival is a world-class cinematic event that was officially established in 2014. It is held alternately in the provinces of Shaanxi and Fujian.

With its expanding international influence and improving brand value, it has played an important role in promoting cultural exchanges in countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
