Xi'an ranks among top 10 in overseas influence

A city image promotion video for Xi'an, the ancient city which is capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, recently ranked ninth on an overseas communications influence index of Chinese cities.

The ranking report was released by the data research center of haiwainet.cn -- the official website of the overseas edition of the People's Daily.

The report took 31 cities in China with international influence among the top 500 cities in the country in 2019 as its research subjects.

It analyzed the relevant data from thousands of overseas media outlets and the four international social media platforms of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.

The total number of views of Xi'an's city image promotion video hit 41.58 million, ranking seventh among the 31 cities.

Local officials said that as the pillar industry of Xi'an, the cultural tourism industry accounts for more than 12 percent of the city's gross domestic product annually.

On the video, a symphony orchestra staged at the square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda and a cultural performances staged at Datang Everbright City showcase the unique charms of the ancient city with its modern culture, prosperity and openness.
